Choosing the Right Preschool: A Parent's Checklist

Choosing the Right Preschool: A Parent's Checklist

Choosing a preschool is one of the first big decisions a parent makes for their child, and it can feel overwhelming. Here is what we tell parents to actually look for on a campus visit.

1. Are the teachers trained, or just supervised?

There's a real difference between a caretaker keeping children occupied and an educator trained in early-childhood pedagogy. Ask directly what certification the teaching staff hold.

2. Is the day structured around play, or worksheets?

Young children learn best through guided play — building, sorting, storytelling, movement — not rote memorisation.

3. How does the school handle a child having a hard day?

Every child has an off day. The answer to this question tells you more about a school's character than any brochure will.

4. Is the campus genuinely safe?

Look for secure entry points, child-proofed furniture, clean washrooms, and staff who know every child's name — not just their own group.

At our own in-house preschool, every classroom is led by educators trained through our Teacher Training Programme — so the answers to all four questions are baked into how we operate, not added on as an afterthought.
